"At first glance, Latchezar Boyadjiev is something of a paradox. While his sculptures are passionate gestures of purist abstraction, the man himself is surprisingly practical. The colors he uses are hot and lush. They shout for attention from across the room. And yet Mr. Boyadjiev remains endearingly soft-spoken. He is the creator of highly energetic forms. Without moving, they squirm and wriggle and swoop and lunge. This energy, in a way, is an essential part of Boyadjiev’s story. One need only to listen to him talk about his life to sense a free spirit churning just beyond his even composure.

Boyadjiev was born and raised in communist-governed Bulgaria--not the ideal place for a free spirit to be born. In 1979 he began his studies in Sofia at the Academy of Applied Arts. He moved to Prague in former Czechoslovakia to work under the tutelage of renowned glass artist"
